After walking the dogs, I should have smiled but I was freezing cold

Pecos River, just down the road from where I live

It was so cold and snowy yesterday. The roads were icy so I decided to just walk the dogs down the street. Carefully, because of the ice.
By afternoon, the sun was shining, but it wasn't any warmer.

I've been busy unpacking, and settling in. Also, because the deadline for submitting my pics and story is looming, I had to take the time to photograph several pieces and write my story. ( 7000 words seems like a lot but once I started writing, it was easy) This is all for a book that's being published about quilt artists with disabilities. I was asked to be part of this book by Anne Copeland, who started Fiberarts of So. California. Annie has been such a help to me, my cheerleader since 2004.

I took part in several of the art quilt challenges from this group, following my accident. The art quilts have been a big part of my recovery process.

Back in Pecos, I'm meeting some nice folks after a rocky start. I've found a place to walk the dogs, it's on the original Route 66. I have a mailing address and a physical address, and met the mailman. I've discovered some artists locally, who I hope to connect with. It's so gorgeous around here. The National Forest and wilderness is so huge. Miles of green evergreen trees everywhere I look. I stopped by the Forest service the other day, learned some info about the forest and was given a large topo map of the area.

More unpacking today, maybe I'll get done :>) I hope so.
